Tom Vek (b.1981, London) signed to the London based independent record label Tummy Touch (fig. 1) in 2001 having spent some 8 years writing and recording with a minimal traditional analogue studio setup in his parents garage in suburban south west London. During this time he became self taught in the basic rock line-up instruments. While completing a graphic design degree at Central Saint Martins, Tom's recordings over the next 2 years were to form the album "We Have Sound" solidified with the help of producer Tom Rixton on stolen time in numerous UK studios 2003/04. Scheduled for an independent release later in 2004 the album caught the attention of legendary label Go!Beat (fig. 2) (Portishead, David Holmes), now part of the Island Records Group (fig. 3). The untouched album was licensed and released in Europe through Go!Beat/Island in 2005, and subsequently licenced through Universal to Startime International (fig. 4) for North America and Canada. |
